Oh my gosh, I feel like I have had very little sleep - and that is because I haven't! I could not sleep for excitement on Saturday night and last night I was full of adrenalin from such a fab day.
I had never been to Wimbledon before. Mum and my brother went to the men's semis last year, so she couldn't believe her luck when she was pulled out of the ballot for the men's finals! And she had promised me that the next time she was selected she would take me! Ha ha!
The last two weeks have been a nightmare, weather wise, but come Sunday, perfect weather. How lucky is that? Mum and Dad pickedus up at 8.30am. Dad drove us to my Uncle's house in Putney, where he spent the day with the kids and my 5 cousins who range from 12 - 2 years.
Classics from DS in the car included:
[whilst going through the Hatfield Tunnel] This is where that Princess died isn't it?
Me: No, she was in Paris
DS: Why was she there when she comes from Wales?
and
[commenting on road signs round Shepherd's Bush as Dad weaved his way illegally through the bus lanes - people in beemers, eh?!]
I've heard of lots of places that have "ham" in them round here, West Ham, East Ham, Hammersmith, Clapham, Southampton...
Now, you will have to forgive me for my photos, I got a little carried away, in that if I saw it, I took it. Just be glad you have the edited version, more pics are available! If you don't like pictures, look away now! Are you ready?
Oooh look the draw. And then there were two... Nice flowers btw.
This is the posh bit, where the winners come out.
First of all we saw the end of the Men's wheelcair double final which was amazing. They were so talented. The speed! Better than my driving but we'll say no more!
The back of Mum's head, eating lunch watching the big screen before we went onto Centre Court. We were trying to line our stomachs after a pint of Pimms (@ £6/pint!)
Henman Hill/ Murray Mound call it what you may, basking in the sunshine. I nearly fell over taking this, think the Pimms was having an effect!
This is where we sat. Just like on the telly! How good is this view? Mum said she'd never had such good seats. The entrance to our bit was right next to the Hawk-eye office, responsible for Roger Federer nearly losing his cool.
Here they come!
Rafa aka Rafael Nadal. He kept pulling his knickers out of his bum. Now, would you do that in front of a packed out crowd of 20, 000 and a live TV audience?! tsk. He did play some cracking tennis, so I'll forgive him.
Feds aka Roger Federer. So cool. He came out in his white suit. I was going to look/buy at a jumper on a stall selling clothes like his, until I realised it was Ralph Lauren! LOL Couty Council salary don't you know (Me not him)
Whilst Rafa was running all over the court like a mad thing, Federer was just sooo calm and made it look easy. He did have a wobble at the start of the second set though when Rafa broke his first two games, (which Mum missed cos she was off buying us Strawberries and Cream ice cream) but in the end...
He won! After 3 hrs 45 mins and 5 sets. His 5th time and we saw it!
Presenting Nadal.
Aw, well done Rog. Look this way! Well, he did, but by then my stupid camera was processing this picture. Doh!
So I went off to the loo, and when I see myself in the mirror I have sunburnt shoulders and a red nose. Rudolph city! Cheers Mum for warning me.
And what a bonus! We also go to see the mixed double final featuring GB's Andy Murray and Jelena Jankovich (women's No3 from somewhere else). Such good fun and crowd pleasers. Plus they played excellent doubles tennis. Most entertaining. They had never played together before this tournament and guess what?
They only went and blummin' won it. Jamie was the first Brit to win Wimbledon for 20 years. Here they are in the royal box. They are the white dots. Andy Murray was there too, but we only saw him on the screen at the end. Oh and Sue Barker and Bjorn Borg. Definitely got our (or rather Mum's) moneys worth.
This was one of the best day of my life (no lie). I shall always remember it for the brilliant tennis and two milestone results. Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for taking me Mummy.
There may be a bit of a downer tomorrow, but for now I am still happy.
